Relief Work

The Freemasons of America contribute more than one and one-half million dollars every day to charitable causes which they, alone, have established. These services to mankind represent an unparalleled example of the humanitarian commitment and concern of this unique and honorable Fraternity.

Mission of Freemasonry

“The mission of Freemasonry in North Carolina is to raise the moral, social, intellectual, and spiritual conscience of society by teaching the ancient and enduring philosophical tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, which are expressed outwardly through service to God, family, country, and self under the Fatherhood of God within the Brotherhood of Man.”

About Freemasonry

"The secret of Masonry, like the secret of life, can be known only by those who seek it, serve it, live it. It cannot be uttered; it can only be felt and acted. It is, in fact, an open secret, and each man knows it according to his quest and capacity. Like all things worth knowing, no one can know it for another and no man can know it alone." - Dr. Joseph Fort Newton

Freemasonry

“We represent a fraternity which believes in justice and truth and honourable action in your community… men who are endeavouring to be better citizens… to make a great country greater. This is the only institution in the world where we can meet on the level all sorts of people who want to live rightly.” — Harry S. Truman

We are now about to quit this sacred retreat of friendship and virtue, to mix again with the world. Amidst its concerns and employments, forget not the duties which you have heard so frequently inculcated, and so forcibly recommended, in this Lodge. Be diligent, prudent, temperate, discreet. Remember that, around this altar, you have promised to befriend and relieve every brother who shall need your assistance. You have promised, in the most friendly manner, to remind him of his errors, and aid a reformation. These generous principles are to extend further. Every human being has a claim upon your kind offices. Do good unto all. Recommend it more especially “to the house-hold of the faithful.” Finally, brethren, be ye all of one mind; live in peace; and may the God of love and peace delight to dwell with and bless you.
