The property has been surveyed.

For those of you who might want to see the boundaries of our property, W Brother Joe Brigman had it surveyed. Come out and walk the property before the pink ribbons disappear.

Come support Steve in the East.

Brethren,

Come support Steve in his first time sitting in the East. For those of you who have been there, you know how HOT that seat gets the first time out! On top of that, he'll be receiving the DDGL and DDGM. Ha!

See you there!

B-B-Q Lunch/Dinner

Welcome neighbors,

The members of Blackmer Lodge would like to let everyone know that Zane Cole and Wally Capps will, once again, be holding a B-B-Q Lunch/Dinner in our community. As they have done in the past, they have graciously promised to donate some of the proceeds to the Blackmer Lodge. We have been told that the B-B-Q will be held in the parking lot in front of the ACE Hardware on Weaverville Boulevard on Saturday September 22, 2012. It should be in the same location where the Christmas trees are sold each year.

The starting time has not yet been finalized, but stay tuned to the blog for updates on starting time and prices. I encourage everyone to come early since they are expecting to sell out rather quickly given the location and the exposure.

Please come out and support there efforts.

Upcoming Yard Sale

Greetings to all,

Just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that Shawn and Lamar Cole will be hosting a yard sell on Saturday 13 October 2012 at the Blackmer Lodge beginning at 0800 AM - until. We are pleased to allow the use of our facilities, and the lodge has been promised a donation for the use of the space.

If you have items that you would like to donate to them for the sale, please drop them an email at: DrShawnCole@gmail.com   I have been advised that clothing is NOT being collected for this sale, but other household goods/furniture/electronics/games, etc. will gladly be accepted. We can even arrange to come get your stuff that you want to donate.

Please drop by the lodge on October 13th and help support the sale......

Freemasons: Three degrees of revelation

Charlotte Azzopardi at The Hume Weekly in Hume, Australia reports "For years people across the world have regarded Freemasons as being part of a club shrouded in secrecy. Freemasonry is the oldest and largest existing fraternity in the world. Its members say it is neither a religion nor a cult. It has more than five million members worldwide and numbers continue to grow. Charlotte Azzopardi unravels the secrets behind the mysterious group.
"People seem to think it’s a secret, but it’s not,’’ says John Burgess, a freemason for 50 years.

‘‘There’s little bits and pieces of it that are distinctly peculiar to Freemasonry that only freemasons know. But if you go on the internet you can find whatever you like about it.’’

But it wasn’t always like that. Rumours that it was a secret cult, religion or world government were whispered behind the backs of men who gathered, dressed in identical clothing, for reasons no one knew.

Today that’s something freemasons laugh off.

‘‘It’s a shame people think like that,’’ says Darley resident Gary Vaughan. ‘‘I’ve told people I’m a freemason. Some of them are intrigued and some people say I’m in a cult. It’s not a cult. It’s nothing like that. It’s not about religion either.’’

Freemasons promote a way of life that brings like-minded men together in a brotherhood. The principles are based on tolerance, equality, charity, honour, morality and self-development..."

Seventy years of service as a Mason

Jesse Campbell at the Ashe Mountain Times, Ashe County North Carolina, reports "At first, 91-year-old Ben Winters' decision to accept an invitation to one of the world's most secretive and exalted organizations was simple.

Winter's grandfather was a Mason and many of the men in the small Ohio township of Wellington also belonged to the fraternal order.

Winters now reflects on decades of loyal and faithful service to his brothers. Friday, he was honored for 70 years of service by the local lodge...

...It's a very honorable organization, and I'm very honored to be part of it,” Winter said. John Brown, the master of Ashe Lodge No. 594, presented Winters with a certificate..."
